<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate unit, an optical unit and a projector which reduce the in-plane temperature difference in a glass substrate for installing a polarizing plate and suppress in-plane illuminance unevenness. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a polarizing plate unit 5 which comprises: a glass substrate 51; and a polarizing plate (an emission-side polarizing plate 344) disposed on the glass substrate 51. The glass substrate 51 has a substantially square outer shape and the emission-side polarizing plate 344 is installed in alignment with a polarization axis 3441 in a diagonal direction of the glass substrate 51. Further, the polarizing plate unit 5 has a phase difference plate (an emission-side phase difference plate 343) for shifting the phase of polarized light emitted from a liquid crystal panel 342 and has a predetermined polarization direction so as to align with the direction of the polarization axis 3441 and the emission-side polarizing plate 344 makes incident light emitted from the emission-side phase difference plate 343. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
