<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an obstacle detection device to accurately detect a distance to an obstacle. <P>SOLUTION: An obstacle detection device 1 includes a plurality of ultrasonic sensors 2 for transmitting/receiving ultrasonic waves, a control part 5 for controlling transmission of ultrasonic waves from the plurality of ultrasonic sensors 2, and a distance operation part 4 for detecting an obstacle on the basis of reception signals of the plurality of ultrasonic sensors 2 to measure a distance to the obstacle. The control part 5 performs control to execute a simultaneous transmission operation that repeats an operation in which the plurality of ultrasonic sensors transmit ultrasonic waves at the same timing in the case that a distance to the obstacle measured by the distance operation part 4 is farther than a predetermined distance or that the distance operation part 4 does not detect an obstacle. Thus, all of the ultrasonic sensors 2 receive a reflection wave from the obstacle after the completion of receiving a direct wave from other ultrasonic sensors 2.
