HEAT PUMP AND HVAC SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

An HVAC system of an electric vehicle includes a housing having an inlet for allowing air to flow therethrough and an air outlet in fluid communication with a passenger compartment of the vehicle. The HVAC system further includes a first heat exchanger disposed in the housing and a second heat exchanger disposed in the housing in the down stream of the first heat exchanger with respect of a flow direction of air through the housing. A primary flow passage allowing refrigerant to flow therethrough is in fluid communication with the first heat exchanger. A secondary flow passage is in fluid communication with or in heat exchange communication with the primary flow passage and in fluid communication with the second heat exchanger.
