PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately disperse heat dissipated in the case of an abnormality while making it possible to diminish degradation in an assisting ability occurring in the case of the abnormality.SOLUTION: An electric power steering system includes an assist motor, a first-system drive circuit and second-system drive circuit that are connected in parallel with the assist motor and feed a driving current to the assist motor, plural first conduction paths that are led to the assist motor via the first-system drive circuit and have their conducting states sequentially switched in order to generate a rotation torque for the assist motor, plural second conduction paths that are led to the assist motor via the second-system drive circuit and have their conducting states sequentially switched in order to generate the rotation torque for the assist motor, and a control unit. If an abnormality is detected in any of the first conduction paths, the control unit activates the assist motor using at least one of the second conduction paths and those of the first conduction paths which have no abnormality detected therein. |
