PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector whose type is to serially arrange two spatial modulation elements, and which can suppress the occurrence of moire by controlling a boundary between a bright portion and a dark portion in an image plane of an image to be projected so as not to be conspicuous and also can provide an excellent image in an appropriate defocus amount obtained by suppressing the occurrence of a halo.SOLUTION: When a defocus amount d falls within an appropriate range, a cross section of the bundle of rays at an imaging position IF of color modulation light valves 50g, 50r and 50b is brought into a state of an appropriate size (spread). That is, the cross section of the bundle rays is adjusted so as to be brought into such a state that the cross section thereof is not completely imaged and blurred.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
