PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment film for a die-casting die which can suppress seizure for a long time and a method of forming such a surface treatment film on a die-casting die member.SOLUTION: A surface treatment film for die-casting die is formed with a glass layer containing a silicon oxide and an oxide, a hydroxide or a carbonate of a second metal higher in oxide forming capability than silicon. The surface treatment film is formed on a die-casting member by mixing silicon oxide and an oxide, a hydroxide or a carbonate of a second metal higher in oxide forming capability than silicon with a solvent to produce a glass layer precursor material, coating the die-casting die member with the produced glass layer precursor material and heating the die-casting die member coated with the glass layer precursor material. |
