The device measures an electrical signal that passes through the blood sample over a duration of time to obtain a plurality of measurements representing a measurement function of time. An accumulative property of the measurement function may be determined such that the accumulative property correlates to a blood coagulation characteristic. |

1. A method comprising:
receiving a blood sample in an electrochemical cell comprising a plurality of electrodes, such that the blood sample and the plurality of electrodes are connected in a circuit; applying an electrical potential difference across the blood sample; measuring, over a measurement time duration, an electrical signal passing through the blood sample; recording a plurality of measurements representing a measurement function over time; and determining an accumulative property of the measurement function based at least on an equation:
RACEclotting=(Δt)n×(A1)m/(A2)p wherein Δt is a time span between a first peak and a second peak of the measurement function; A1 is a first area computed by integrating variable values of the measurement function over the time span; A2 is a second area computed by integrating a difference between the variable values and a fixed minimum value of the measurement function over the time span; and n, m, and p are empirical parameters; and wherein the accumulative property relates to one or more blood coagulation characteristics. |
