System and method for improved data accessibility

A system is configured to allow for near simultaneous data capture, encoding, and uploading of the resultant data file containing the captured data. By operating in a substantially parallel fashion, the separate processes of capturing, encoding, and uploading one or more data files created from a data source can be completed much more quickly and efficiently, thereby making the resultant data file available to the content consumer in an overall shorter period of time than presently possible using conventional sequential data file creation techniques. The method also includes the reorganization of standard data files as part of the process to more quickly and efficiently create the data file for distribution and ultimate consumption by the content consumer user.

1. A computer system comprising:
at least one processor; at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor; and a database residing in the at least one memory; and a data mechanism residing in the at least one memory, the data mechanism:
accessing a source data file, the data mechanism being configured to operate in parallel to simultaneously capture, encode, and upload a plurality of data segments file to a destination server to create a content data file on the destination server;creating a combined index and header file after all of the plurality of data segments has been captured, the combined index and header file describing the contents of each of the plurality of captured data segments, the combined index and header file containing instructions for properly sequencing each of the plurality of data segments in the content data file;transferring the combined index and header file to the destination server;assembling and arranging the plurality of data segments in accordance with the instructions in the combined index and header file;and appending the combined index and header file to the front of the content data file to form at least one media file suitable for distribution over a network.
