The present invention suggests a method and an apparatus for estimating a symptom severity score for a patient with a mental disease. According to the present invention, the method for estimating a symptom severity score for a patient with a mental disease comprises: a step of acquiring a plurality of biomarkers by electroencephalogram analysis using an event inducing potential occurring while a patient with a mental disease performs a predetermined action; a step of selecting biomarkers among the biomarkers required for estimating a symptom severity score; a step of using the selected biomarkers to establish a symptom severity score estimation model of the patient; and a step of using the symptom severity score estimation model of the patient to estimate a symptom severity score of the patient.
