According to a method and an apparatus for distinguishing between wearing and removal of an earphone, and a computer-readable recording medium for recording a program for performing the same in accordance with the present invention, if an earphone worn on an ear of a user is removed from the ear, multimedia data which are being played can be paused or ended without attaching an additional sensor to a convention earphone to contribute to convenient use of a multimedia playing device of the user and prevent unnecessary playing to minimize power consumption.
