Provided is an apparatus and method of fingerprint recognition to improve accuracy of fingerprint recognition. According to the present invention, the fingerprint recognition apparatus comprises a fingerprint sensing panel having a plurality of fingerprint sensors configured to sense a fingerprint along with a movement of a finger. The fingerprint sensing panel can include: a fingerprint sensing unit comprising the fingerprint sensors; and first and second auxiliary sensing units formed on both sides of the fingerprint sensing unit.
