The present invention relates to a display device which can reduce damage to a component formed on a substrate when a force of bending the substrate is applied and a manufacturing method thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the display device includes: a substrate; a thin film transistor formed on the substrate; a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor; a roof layer formed to be spaced from the pixel electrode with a plurality of micro spaces therebetween on the pixel electrode; a ceiling surface of the roof layer; an inner wall surface; a first groove formed on at least one of the edges where the ceiling surface and the inner wall surface meet; a liquid crystal layer filling the micro spaces; and a cover film formed on the roof layer to seal the micro spaces.
