A dose setting mechanism for an injection device for setting a dose to be dispensed from the injection device, comprising: a threaded rod associated with the injection device; a dose setting element comprising a rotating sleeve which can be rotated relative to the dose setting mechanism and which carries a coupling element permitting a coupling with the threaded rod so that the rotating sleeve can be rotated relative to the threaded rod in one, setting direction to set a dose and a relative rotation in an opposite direction is blocked; a retaining element fixedly connected to the injection device which carries a locating element; and a releasing element comprising an inclined surface, wherein the coupling between the coupling element of the dose setting element and the threaded rod can be uncoupled by the inclined surface such that rotation of the rotating sleeve relative to the threaded rod in said opposite direction is enabled and a set dose can be turned back or corrected, and wherein, during rotation of the rotating sleeve in the opposite direction, the locating element prevents movement of the threaded rod.
