PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle detection device that can highly accurately detect passages of vehicles.SOLUTION: A vehicle detection device 1 comprises: a light projection unit S1 that is plurally arranged one by one in a height direction and projects a ray of light P; a plurality of light reception units S" that is arranged corresponding to each of the plurality of light projection units S1, and can receive the ray of light P; a light shield information acquisition unit 21 that receives an input of a detection signal indicative of presence or absence of the light reception of the ray of light P to be projected by the plurality of light projection units S1 in the plurality of corresponding light reception units S2 to determine whether the ray of light P is shielded, and acquires a light shield area where, of the plurality of light reception units S2, the light reception unit S2 corresponding to the shielded ray of light P occupies; and a vehicle determination unit 22 that determines a passage of a vehicle when a light shield area change D indicative of a chronicle change in the light shield area acquired by the light shield information acquisition unit 21 complies with a reference change pattern Dref having the chronicle change in the light shield area occurring accompanied by the passage of the vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
