PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method of crack using viscous fluid for easily and certainly detecting, by application of the viscous fluid, a fine crack in an initial stage and a crack occurring in a complicated shape part such as a welded part or structure connecting part, and to provide viscous fluid for crack detection.SOLUTION: Viscous fluid 2 having a high thixotropic property is applied to a base material 1 on which a load repeatedly acts. Occurrence or evolution of a crack 3 is detected on the basis of a recess 5 in the external surface of the viscous fluid 2 formed by suction of the viscous fluid 2 into a crack 3 by opening/closing of the crack 3 in the base material 1 and/or a texture 6 of the base material 1 exposed by the recess 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
