PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver with an image in which the state of a road surface is image-captured that is required for the traveling of a vehicle even at night or when lighted from behind.SOLUTION: An image generation device 1 according to the present invention comprises: a radio wave reception unit 3 for receiving the horizontal and vertical polarization components of a radio wave arriving from ahead of a vehicle, and generating a radio-wave image; a visible image image-capturing unit 5 for image-capturing a visible image ahead of the vehicle; an object classification unit 7 for classifying an object in the radio-wave image on the basis of the horizontal and vertical polarization components, and setting the classified area as an object area; a contrast detection unit 9 for detecting a low-contrast area of the visible image in which contrast is low; and an image generation unit 11 for generating an output image in which the contrast of an area, among the low-contrast areas in the visible image, that corresponds to the object area in the radio-wave image is improved.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
