PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator in which appearance design and reliability are improved by providing a translucent film on a door front plate.SOLUTION: A refrigerator includes: a door front plate 7 having translucency of the front surface of a storage chamber door 2a; a substrate 15 installed at the back of the door front plate 7; an operation unit 9 of the front surface of the door front plate 7; a detection unit 14 provided at the back of the operation unit 9 and by coming into contact with or adjacent to the rear surface of the door front plate 7, and connected to the substrate 15 for detecting change in capacitance; a display unit 10 for displaying an operation result of the operation unit 9; illumination means 13 for radiating the display unit 10 from behind; a control unit for controlling the illumination means 13 based on the detection result of the detection unit 14; and a chromatic paint layer 7d provided on the rear surface of the door front plate 7 and so as to avoid a projection position at the back of the display unit 10.
