PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold a movable element at any arbitrary position with passive brake force even in the case where the movable element is stopped at a position displaced from the arbitrary position or the movable element is shifted unexpectedly by external force.SOLUTION: A linear motor includes the movable element, a first armature 6 and a second armature 8. The movable element includes a permanent magnet 1 in which poles are alternately arranged in a driving direction. The first armature 6 is formed from magnetic pole teeth 5 which are disposed oppositely to the permanent magnet, a magnetic substance which forms a path of a magnetic flux by connecting a plurality of magnetic pole teeth, and coils 3 disposed in the magnetic pole teeth. The second armature 8 has the same configuration as the first armature. The first armature and the second armature are coaxially adjacently disposed. The movable element includes at least two partition parts in which an interval of permanent magnets is different. In one partition part 12 of the two partition parts, the permanent magnets are disposed at intervals equal to the magnetic pole teeth in the first armature and the second armature. In another partition part 13, permanent magnets are disposed at intervals of the magnetic pole teeth in the first armature and the second armature different from the one partition part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
