摘要 A controller controls the driving frequency and voltages for a display device. If image data corresponds to a moving picture, the controller drives a data driver and a gate driver at a moving picture frequency. If image data corresponds to a still image, drives the data driver and the gate driver at a still image frequency lower frequency than the moving picture frequency. When the still image is to be displayed, the signal controller also controls leakage current of a thin film transistor of a pixel based on a representative value of the image data, such that positive leakage current applied for a positive data voltage is equal to negative leakage current applied for a negative data voltage.

A display device, comprising: a display panel including a plurality of pixels to display an image based on image data, each pixel including or coupled to a gate line, a data line, and a thin film transistor connected to the gate line and the data line; a data driver connected to the data line and which applies a positive data voltage and a negative data voltage; a gate driver connected to the gate line; and a signal controller which controls the data driver and the gate driver, wherein the signal controller drives the data driver and the gate driver at a moving picture frequency when the image data corresponds to a moving picture and drives the data driver and the gate driver at a still image frequency lower than the moving picture frequency when the image data corresponds to a still image, and wherein, when the image data corresponds to the still image, the signal controller drives the data driver and gate driver so that leakage current of the thin film transistor corresponds to positive leakage current when a positive data voltage is applied, and negative leakage current when a negative data voltage is applied with respect to a representative value of the still image.
