Provided is an imaging device with both a phase different type auto focus adjusting function and a contrast type auto focus adjusting function. Also provided is an auxiliary light projection device capable of projecting auxiliary light in an appropriate pattern for the imaging device. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the auxiliary light projection device and the imaging device including the auxiliary light projection device can shorten auto focus adjusting time with respect to a subject and improve reliability of the auto focus functions.
