The system has an air flap actuator (6) i.e. exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, controlling a rate of nitrogen oxide emitted by an internal combustion engine (2). Another actuator (7) i.e. fuel injector, controls combustion noise of the engine. A regulation unit (30) controls the former actuator to regulate the rate of nitrogen oxide emitted by the engine in a closed loop. Another regulation unit (31) controls the latter actuator for regulating the combustion noise of the engine in the closed loop. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling combustion in an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. |
