Provided are an apparatus for coding an audio signal by switching between a time-domain transform technique and a frequency-domain transform technique and an apparatus for decoding a coded audio signal by switching between a time-domain transform technique and a frequency-domain transform technique. When switching from one transform technique to the other transform technique from among the time-domain transform technique or the frequency-domain transform technique, an audio signal before and after the switching can be coded or the coded audio signal can be decoded by using an additionally transformed audio signal. In addition, provided are various embodiments for reducing the amount of audio signals to be additionally transformed.
