Zirconium, hafnium or both of the same are extracted to an organic phase and separated from a water phase, by contacting a water phase which is an aqueous solution including the organic phase containing a dialkyldiglycollamidic acid expressed as R^1R^2NCOCH_2OCH_2COOH (R^1 and R^2 indicate an equal or different linear or branched chain alkyl group, and at least one is an alkyl group of carbon number 6), a scandium, zirconium, hafnium or both of the same. Facility investment and maintenance costs are suppressed by being able to efficiently improve purity of scandium by a further simplified process by being able to extract zirconium, hafnium or both of the same by solvent extraction selectively from the aqueous solution including scandium, zirconium, hafnium or both of the same which were difficult to efficiently be separated. |
