The objective of the present invention is to provide a tactile sensation control system and a tactile sensation control method with which a user can perform easy-to-use operations without requiring the user to focus his/her line of sight on a display screen when performing the operation. This tactile sensation control system controls the user's tactile sensation when an operation is performed with respect to an operation surface of a touch panel or a touch pad. This system is equipped with: an operation region information acquisition unit that acquires, as operation region information, information about an operation region on the operation surface where the user performs an operation, and information about the type of operation corresponding to that operation region; and a tactile sensation control unit that controls the tactile sensation of the operation surface such that the operation region in the operation region information acquired by the operation region information acquisition unit produces a tactile sensation in accordance with the type of operation corresponding to that operation region.
