The application relates to a method for controlling an electric motor of a power tool comprising a socket for a tool, at least one current of the electric motor and/or speed of said motor being detected as a parameter during a percussion operation of the electric motor and a driving time of the electric motor being defined for the percussion operation in accordance with the parameter. The application also relates to a method for controlling an electric motor of a power tool comprising a socket for a tool for unscrewing a screw from a counter-piece, the electric motor being halted during the unscrewing process if the torque delivered by the electric motor falls below a pre-determined limit value, or if the screw is unscrewed from its seat for a pre-determined number of revolutions. The application further relates to a method for controlling an electric motor of a power tool comprising a socket for a tool for unscrewing a screw from a counter-piece, wherein different control methods for unscrewing the screw are used, depending on the moment of the screw in its seat.
