According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is a method for protecting a clutch of a vehicle which is performed by estimating an internal temperature representative value of a coupling clutch in order to prevent burning by deterioration of the coupling clutch, remembering and determining a previous situation when the estimated temperature representative value exceeds a predetermined critical value, and operating a protection method by each stage, thereby preventing burning of the clutch so as to improve durability of a coupling unit. To this end, the method for protecting a clutch of a vehicle according to the embodiment of the present invention comprises the following steps of: (A) calculating a clutch temperature representative value; (B) comparing the clutch temperature representative value with a critical temperature representative value; (C) turning on an error flag; (D) counting the number of times of turning on the error flag; (E) releasing the clutch; (F) comparing if the number of times of turning on the error flag is greater than the critical number of times; (G) comparing if the clutch temperature representative value is greater than or equal to 70% of the critical temperature representative value; (H) comparing if the clutch temperature representative value is greater than or equal to 80% of the critical temperature representative value; and (I) turning off the error flag. |
