1. A method for detecting the presence of an antibiotic in a sample, the method comprising:
(a) contacting the sample with a microbial growth inhibition test, said test comprising at least a test organism, an indicator and an aminoglycoside antibiotic, (b) growing the test organism, and (c) detecting the amount of growth of the test organism, wherein lack of growth reflects presence of an antibiotic in the sample.
