PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer capable of exhibiting a sufficient buffer action for absorb a large input at a time of compression operation and elongating an effective stroke.SOLUTION: A buffer comprises: a piston 4 installed in a cylinder 3 storing a liquid; and a rod 5 holding the piston 4, one end of the rod 5 is held by a rod guide portion 100 during compression operation and expansion operation, an outer circumferential surface of the rod 5 and an inner circumferential surface of a small-diameter portion 101 of the rod guide portion 100 near the other end opening are configured to be slidable relatively to each other, thereby separating an interior of the cylinder 3 from an interior of a large-diameter portion 102 of the rod guide portion 100 on one end side, a lock mechanism 150 includes a lock collar 160 provided to be movable together with the rod 5 to the outer circumference of the rod 5 located closer to one end of the cylinder 3 than the piston 4; and a lock piece 170 provided on an outer circumference of the small-diameter portion 101, and the lock piece 170 is fitted into an inner circumferential surface of a cylindrical portion of the lock collar 160 just before maximum compression during the compression operation, thereby forming a lock state for reducing a compression speed during the compression operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
