PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crude drug and the like having a functional improvement action leading to the treatment of a spinal cord injury in a chronic stage (condition in which a long period of time has passed after injury).SOLUTION: The motor function improving action of a spinal cord injury mouse is examined by the administration of crude drug extract started from one month after the injury. As a result, the motor function improving action was found in sophora root and forsythia fruit extract, and matrine which is one of the ingredients in sophora root. Sophora root, forsythia fruit, and matrine are useful as a functional improving agent in a spinal cord injury in a chronic stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
