The present technology relates to a coding device and method, a decoding device and method, and a program which enable a reduction in the amount of calculation for decoding. A separation unit separates a supplied bit stream into coded data of channel sound sources including a dialogue sound source, coded data of an additional data sound source, and coded data of dialogue information. A dialogue information decoding unit decodes the coded data of the dialogue information. When the dialogue information obtained by decoding is presented to a viewer, the viewer selects one sound source from among the dialogue sound source and some additional dialogue sound sources. An additional dialogue sound source decoding unit decodes only coded data of the additional dialogue sound source selected by the viewer. An additional dialogue selection unit outputs an audio signal selected by the viewer among audio signals of the dialogue sound source or the additional dialogue sound sources in response to a selection instruction from the viewer. The present technology is applicable to a coding device and a decoding device. |
