According to the invention, in order to access different frequency bands, different modulation methods, different encryptions and the like, the radio module has a digital signal processing block on the basis of a freely programmable data processor and an analogous signal processing block for controlling at least one transmitting and receiving antenna. The block for controlling at least one antenna is configured such that an active adjustment of the antenna to the local conditions can be carried out, and the digital signal processing block is interlocked with the analogous signal processing block by means of a converter block having digital-to-analog or analog-to-digital conversion. The invention further relates to a household appliance in which the radio module according to the invention is installed.
