Provided are a power-supply device and communication method which are capable of improving communication efficiency at the time of power supply in communication for transmitting and receiving a communication signal, with a control line for forwarding a control signal used in power-supply control, and housed within a charging cable for connecting a vehicle and a power-supply device, as the medium therefor. A power-supply device (2) is provided with: a plurality of control lines (32, 32) capable of connecting to different vehicles (1, 1); branch lines for branching from each of the plurality of control lines (32, 32); one communication unit (22) for transmitting and receiving a communication signal with an assigned communication partner; and a superimposition/separation unit (23) for superimposing/separating a communication signal transmitted/received by the communication unit (22) on/from the control lines (32, 32). Furthermore, the superimposition/separation unit (23) has: a plurality of primary coils (231a, 231b) for connecting to the plurality of branch lines; and a plurality of secondary coils (232a, 232b) for respectively pairing with and electrically joining with the plurality of primary coils (231a, 231b), and connecting to the communication unit (22). |
