A trailer socket to connect the electrical system of a towing vehicle to the vehicle under tow is a moulded housing with male and female contacts for connection to a plug from the towing vehicle and a plug from the towed vehicle. The towing vehicle plug has a peripheral seal which is compressed by the entry of a sleeve projecting from the socket. The housing has a door which protects the female contacts when the towed vehicle is disconnected. A latch keeps the socket connected to the plug of the towing vehicle once engaged.
