A water turbine 1 has an impeller rotor 2 and guide wheel 3. The rotor blades 2 and stator vanes 3 are adjustable. Preferably, the blades are reversible so that the rotor blades move through at least 180 degrees and the stator vanes move through at least 90 degrees. The turbine may be a pump turbine designed as a bulb turbine for use in a tidal system so that it can efficiently generate energy from bi-directional flow. |
