PURPOSE:To improve an oxygen gas absorbing characteristic by providing a conductive carbon layer, through which fluorinated resin powder exists, on the surface of a cadmium electrode. CONSTITUTION:A conductive carbon layer, through which fluorinated resin powder exists, is provided on the surface of a cadmium electrode which is formed by applying a paste, comprising a cadmium active material, to a conducting core body. By this arrangement, numerous microscopic water repellent points are formed on the carbon layer on the surface of a anode plate, and so the oxygen gas produced at a cathode electrode can approach easily to the carbon powder layer on the anode plate; accordingly the reaction between oxygen gas and the metallic cadmium, ring under the thin carbon powder film, occurs rapidly. The oxygen adsorbing characteristic is thereby improved. |
