The present invention provides a liquid crystal display for improving light efficiency and a manufacturing method thereof. The liquid crystal display includes a backlight unit and a liquid crystal panel. The liquid crystal panel comprises a lower polarizing plate. The lower polarizing plate includes a polarizing layer which has a light axis for polarization and a wavelength conversion material which is formed between the polarizing plate and the backlight unit.
