The method involves detecting a first operating parameter depending on the rotation speed of the rotation machine, detecting a second parameter depending on the moment of inertia of the rotation machine, comparing first and second parameters with first and second reference values and generating a signal if both parameters exceed respective tolerance ranges. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an arrangement for detecting load shedding between a rotation machine generating electrical energy and an electrical power supply network.
