摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element achieving a desired response time and/or exhibition of improved display quality.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element is manufactured through the steps of: forming a liquid crystal alignment film by using a liquid crystal aligning agent which comprises at least one compound selected from polyimide obtained by allowing diamine to react with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, a polyamic acid as a precursor of the polyimide and polyamic acid derivatives, and a photopolymerizable monomer and/or a photopolymerizable oligomer; applying a voltage higher than a threshold voltage (Vth) of a liquid crystal composition to the liquid crystal composition to align all or a part of the photopolymerizable monomer or the photopolymerizable oligomer present on the surface of the liquid crystal alignment film along a direction where the liquid crystal is arrayed; and irradiating the alignment film with light while applying the voltage so as to fix the aligned state.
