According to a first invention of the present disclosure, a converter for light emitting diode (LED) lighting in a constant current output method, which is to switch at least two LED strings, comprises: a constant current output DC-DC conversion unit for converting predetermined input voltage into DC voltage of constant current; an open detection unit including a plurality of open detection circuits, wherein the open detection circuits are individually connected to each of the LED strings in parallel, and output an open detection signal when an electrically opened LED is generated in the LED strings connected in parallel; and a switch group coupled to both ends of the LED strings, and including a plurality of switches switched according to the open detection signal.
