<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to improve a printing speed in a printing system. <P>SOLUTION: A printing system comprises: a printer; and a host computer to transfer image data to the printer. The host computer includes a printer driver and a spooler. The printer driver includes a data transfer unit for transferring the received image data, and a printing device for executing printing after performing half-tone processing according to the received image data. The data transfer unit includes a data transfer part that, if a total pixel number of the print target image data is a first total pixel number, transfers the print target image data as image data in a first data format, and if it is a second total pixel number, transfers the print target image data as image data in a second data format.
