The present invention relates to a refrigerator door opening and closing device and a controlling method thereof, and the purposes of the present invention are to open and close a refrigerator door using a small low power motor, and completely and automatically open or close the door when recognizing that a user manually starts opening or closing the door. In order to achieve these purposes, the refrigerator door opening and closing device in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a door connected by a hinge part to a main body in which a storage chamber is formed; an opening and closing unit which includes a driving part for generating driving power by a motor and a door rotating apparatus for rotating the door by receiving rotary force of the driving part, and opens and closes the door of the main body; a counter electromotive force measuring instrument which measures a counter electromotive force level from the motor; a power circuit which is connected to the power in order to supply power to the motor; a counter electromotive force circuit which transfers counter electromotive force of the motor to the counter electromotive force measuring instrument; a control switch which selectively connects one among the counter electromotive force circuit and the power circuit to the motor; and the control part which is controlled to connect the control switch to the power circuit when the motor is driven, is controlled to connect the control switch to the counter electromotive force circuit when the motor is stopped, and is controlled to open and close the door by controlling the motor, wherein the control part is controlled to rotate the door in a closing direction when preset electromotive force is inputted into the electromotive force measuring instrument while the motor is stationary. |
