The present invention provides a display device with low power consumption. The display device includes a receiving circuit which has a still image display period and a moving image display period and has a function of receiving an image signal, a driving circuit which has a function of driving a display part, and the display part which has a function of displaying an image. The display part displays an image with a frame frequency of less than 1 Hz in the still image display period. The receiving circuit stops receiving the image signal in the still image display period. By using an external signal, the still image display period is accurately changed into the moving image display period.
