The present invention relates to a method for processing casing soil used in the cultivation of mushrooms using a culture medium, wherein the method comprises the following steps:
i) storing the aforesaid casing soil,
ii) subjecting the casing soil from step i) to a heat treatment, and
iii) subjecting said heated casing soil from step ii) to a drying treatment.
