The present invention relates to the use of an hydroxylated stilbene, in particular resveratrol, in the manufacture of a neutraceutical composition for increasing the microvascular plasticity and/or microvessel density, and/or decreasing the microvessel abnormalities in the brain, in particular in the hippocampus of a mammal, in particular for the treatment of age- and condition-related decline in brain neuronal function and/or cognitive functioning in a mammal.
