The present invention relates to a mobile terminal, a home appliance, and a method for operating the same. The mobile terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a display; a wireless communication part for exchanging data with a server or transmitting data to a home appliance; and a control part. The control part controls control to display an application screen related to the home appliance in accordance with an application execute input related to the home appliance; controls to set information on any one access point device among plural access point devices stored in the mobile terminal as an access point device for the home appliance when a product registration of the home application is not completed, in the application screen; controls a wireless communication part to transmit a media access control (MAC) address of the access point device to the home appliance; and receives the product registration completion message for the home appliance from a server, and controls display of the product registration completion message. Accordingly, the product registration for the home appliance can be performed conveniently.
