PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refining carbon steel capable of controlling C concentration with high accuracy by applying a spark discharge emission spectral analysis method capable of performing a quick and highly accurate C concentration analysis.SOLUTION: A refining method of carbon steel collects a sample from molten steel and analyzes its component in one or more processes from tapping out from a converter up to a completion of a secondary refining, and performs a component adjustment of the molten steel and/or a completion determination of the secondary refining based on an analysis result. For the analysis of C concentration in a component analysis, a spark discharge emission spectral analysis method is employed, where a part of an emitting light intensity ratio (Ip/Ip) of C for Fe obtained for each unit discharge is discarded based on emitting light intensity ratio (Ip/Ip) data of Al for Fe obtained for each unit discharge in a large number of spark discharges with Fe as an internal standard element, and remaining (Ip/Ip) data is averaged to obtain the C concentration. |
