PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device using electro-optical crystal that is able to suppress decrease in the life of an element resulting from the application of a voltage.SOLUTION: An optical device using electro-optical crystal comprises: a light deflector that has an electro-optical material 101 made of inversion-symmetrical monocrystal, and a pair of electrodes formed on a first face of the electro-optical material 101 and a second face opposite the first face; and an air tight container 103 that has an incident window 104a for making light incident on the light deflector, and an emission window 104b for taking out emission light from the light deflector, and that seals the light deflector in it air tightly. Space charges are generated in the electro-optical material 101 by applying a voltage to the pair of electrodes, thereby injecting electrons or electron holes into the electro-optical material 101. The traveling direction of light transmitted through the electro-optical material 101 is changed by changing a voltage applied between the pair of electrodes. |
