The invention provides an installation apparatus (5) for handling a component of a wind turbine. The installation apparatus (5) comprises a base (8), a support portion (7) and an extensible arm (9) having opposing ends connected to the support portion (7) and the base (8), respectively. The extensible arm (9) is adapted to move the support portion (7) relative to the base (8) and about a transverse axis of the installation apparatus (5) between a transport position and an installation position. In the transport position the support portion (7) rests on the base (8). In the installation position the support portion (7) and the base (8) form an angle. The invention further provides an assembly including such an installation apparatus (5) and a method of mounting a wind turbine.
