The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal of the present invention comprises: a touch screen having an execution screen of an application displayed thereon; and a control unit for displaying a preset icon with an overlay form in the execution screen of the application, and executing any one preset menu function of the executing application when a first input on the icon is received. Accordingly, a user can directly execute a frequently used menu in an application that is currently used by using a quick menu execution icon always displayed on a screen.
