The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a closed loop of cutting wire, wherein said method comprises: manufacturing (30) a cutting wire comprising a central core continuously extending between two free ends, said central core having a tensile strength greater than 1400 MPa, and welding (50) together both free ends so as to form the closed loop of cutting wire, wherein: - manufacture of the cutting wire comprises creating (32) the central core from a solid state weldable material; and - the welding (50) is a solid state welding operation that comprises crushing, at a temperature less than the melting temperature of the central core material, one of the free ends onto the other of the free ends thereof until both ends interpenetrate each other and no longer form a single uniform material unit. |
